Wow JD... where you been brother? It's been around for a long minute :) Thanks man! :thumb:

Here is a pic of my 120 gallon reverse flow

Looking really good there! Great work!

Before cutting on any propane tank you should fill it with soapy water and let it sit for a week. Liquid propane will penetrate the metal. Also Mercaptane will pool on the bottom. Simply drill a small hole on the bottom when you want to drain it.

Hey Gixx good point. I had placed emphasis on this very thing at the very beginning of the thread. :thumb:

Hey guys.
I filled the tank with water and dishwashing liquid let it sit overnight and drain. Repeated 3 times. This method has had good results with me in the past... I'm sure it will make a small dent on my water bill however.
***I REALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND PEOPLE CUTTING PROPANE TANKS AT ALL, it's a last resort for me. Hard to find tanks this size with thick enuf walls thats not a propane tank out here.
Cheers

No she's not.... Other priorities have kinda taken over... Still trying to source a trailer frame. Trying to avoid having to build one from scratch! We'll see though, That might just have to happen. I will def update this thread when it happens. Hopefully before March next year. No immediate need for the trailer right now. I'll sort it out soon enough though.

Cheers

Is this gonna happen...?

:heh::heh::heh:
Went to look on this today. Been having a hard time finding a trailer that would "fit the pocket" so to speak. This one was almost a giveaway. Got it for a good deal. The guy had just finished his house, bought a generator which btw came with a trailer which he didn't need...:becky: Works out for everyone. It's probably slightly on the small side but I can extend and change the wheel positioning to accommodate. Should be picking it up this weekend! Pretty excited!

The trailer's finally coming together guys! Picked it up yesterday. It was raining all day so I didn't get a chance to do anything but I did get some stuff done on it today. I had a piece of grill (safety grill for a house) an I cut it to fit the trailer to help distribute the weight of the smoker. I also moved the wheels back 8" to accommodate the center of gravity. It's gonna be fun trying to figure out how I'm gonna get the smoker on here.:shocked::heh:. Hopefully the trailer will be ready by tomorrow. All I have to do left is bolt the security grilling to the trailer and top it all with a sheet of ply and paint. I am going to have some tabs welded on for the smoker to attach to! Should work... we'll see.. Well here are a couple pics.

Might have another update tomorrow if all goes well. :thumb:

When I built mine I think the trailer design took the most engineering. I had the smoker design in my head but it would not fit any trailer I had seen. So, I built the trailer first. Roadworthy and safe were the priorities. All said and done it was not heavy enough on the tongue. The first fix that came to mind was moving the axle. Too much work on a finished rig. The next fix was to build the wood box bigger and keep it full. That worked.

Hey Cap, My priorities was definitely the smoker... mobile or not so I really wasn't in too much of a rush for the trailer.

Anyways I finally found this one and it really is perfect. I moved the axel back and cut the legs of the smoker to sit better on the trailer. I installed her bolted her down over the weekend. Liking how its looking so far. Nice and compact. Weight distribution isn't bad. All I have to do not is paint it black and install a rail and a work shelf. Shouldn't take too long.

Here's where I'm at so far.

Excellent setup. After you build the shelf you may want to move the smoker a little so you won't be bending over a tire or fender. Great job!

Yep. I'm glad someone pointed me this direction cause I'm building a 120 gal. right now and have gotten a TON of ideas already just by looking at this one.

One difference I think I'm going to have is that I'm going to have my firebox on the side rather than on the end. Will be 18" deep by 24" long by 20" high.

Great Build! i am still planning on making mine own, I'm glad i seen your build. there's a lot of great ideas that i wouldn't thought of. that's if you don't mind of course.

Outstanding thread Gents. I am working on my project right now and the like others the trailer was the big hold up for me. Found a used Boat trailer that I am cutting down to work with the rig. I am using the Jambo J5 as a model for my pit design but want to try doing reverse flow to start.

Can you go into some more detail about what you did with respect to flow control under the reverse flow plate? Also any photos I might have missed of the inside of the smoker around your exhaust stack?

Outstanding thread!!
