What's the best compliment you've gotten on your Q?

I cant even top that I made my sauce for our work group and was told it was the best every tasted. someone had bought Stubbs BBQ it was unopened and stayed that way

Wow....there's no need for me to share my stories since they will be blown out of the water with yours. Truly epic encounter, man....

I really like getting that little guiet throaty "hmmm" that people don't even realize they are making when they bite into your food.

Wow!! The best complement??? I'd have to say that it's when I'm sitting at the table and my two beautiful daughters say, daddy, that was awesome! Can I have some more?......

Can't touch the OP, but my fave was after I took my first stab at a brisket. I'm in VA, so I had zero brisket exposure, but I took lots of info from this site and did my best. My sister-in-law, who is from TX, went back for seconds (something she never does anywhere) and teared up a little, saying it reminded her of home and that my flavor profile was dead on. A Texan going for seconds is enough validation for me!

The best compliment I ever got was when my dad started asking me to cook the meat when we were eating at their house. Normally he was the "Master of his grill/smoker". Well, several years ago he "officially" announced that I was the man of the grill/smoker when we did family cookouts because he could not replicate what I could do. Nothing like a compliment from your dad.

Great story man - that is a true win on multiple levels!

Compliment that is bitter sweet: Friends and or family are over and their kids are dog'ing down some BBQ and the parents say to the kids "why dont you eat like that at home" and the kid replies "because you dont cook like this"

it kind of feels good but also kind of like - oooops did he really just say that?

Kids can be brutal

Great story, thanks for sharing.

Mine was pulling a die hard vegetarian for 20 years over to the dark side :)

Like I said earlier, not nearly as good as the OP, but hearing "First place brisket for the 2011 Smokin' in the Bogs.....Wyocena Yacht Club Q Crew!" was pretty freaking cool.

Very cool! I hope to someday receive a fraction of a compliment like that. If you can make someone remember an older, happy memory, that is better than gold.

best compliment I have ever received? Not as good as that one but to me getting my mom to actually eat something I make was huge. My mom is the pickiest eater alive and doesn't eat anything different and she was actually asking for more of my pulled pork and homemade bbq sauce. I can't believe it and she actually wants more. She even said she did not think she would like it at all. I was actually rushed too so I know she hasn't had my best pulled pork. I got 3lb boneless one to cook for her as a surprise.

I had two of my wife's friends ask me to give their husbands cooking lessons. Felt pretty good.

that was a great complement, and probably unbeatable. But my best compliment come when my friends say this bbq is better than any from a bbq restaurant they have ever eaten at. The constant prodding for me to start a restaurant is good too. But I have to explain the work in the bbq industry is too demanding on a daily basis to fit my lifestyle.

Not even on the same page as the OP, but...
When at a recent brew & que contest my youngest son and I got some brisket, when I asked my oldest son (23) "Why didn't you get some que?" He replied "I won't eat BBQ if isn't yours."

My neighbor shows up and eats half of the food everytime. Which I don't mind helps me not get fat.

That's a great story...priceless.

The best compliment we get is word of mouth referrals.
