Anyone going enter this? Nevada State Championship May 27th & 28th.

Why don't you give it a go? You are now Paul Kirk trained! :D

Take your Bandera, mooch a WSM, some ice chests, and go for it. If they have a backyard division and you don't feel froggy - then enter it!! Nothing like jumping in to get a feel for competition.

That's how TIM and I started Southern Brethren BBQ!

I have a WSM and all the other stuff i need and i think i got the bug, even if i've said many times i'll never compete. There is Rib cook off in two weeks that i'm going to try. 1st is $1000,2nd $500, 3rd $300 and it's only $60 to enter and they furnish five racks of Ribs. One turn in box and the rest is sold to the public. BTW i'm to farking old to be doing this.(ain't got no rocking chair)

:D

Welcome to the darkest of the dark side!!

The rib thing sounds like a deal for $60. I definately give it a try.

Feel your way in gently, if you must. Some of us just jumped into the deep end with no "floaties" :D

Go for it Mr. S.!!!!!!!

If'n I lived closer, I'd come help ya!

I am damned near tempted to join you if you decide to do this. Let me know what happens.

When is the one you are going to do?

Rib cook off is March 26 it's sponsered by the Am. Legion, proceeds go to the Childrens Hospital.

Do it! You'll regret it if you don't. Entry fee is VERY reasonable, prize money is generous.

BTW, when you win, keep in mind folks donate a portion of the prize money back when it's a small charitable event.

Good point!

At Mobile where the charity was United Cerebral Palsy nearly all the backyard guys turned their checks over (most were $50-100) and I think a good many of the big winners donated back at least a portion of their winnings!
