Patio Grill - Barrel Style?

Honestly, it looks about the same as (build quality and thickness) similarly priced COSs from Depot, Lowe's or Academy. I would need to see it in person to see the welds and fit along with the metal thickness (which in the pictures appears to be pretty thin).

I would look for a local pit builder. Maybe they have something that size that would not be much more $$. I have used this guy before, http://www.texaslonghornbbqpits.com/products.html, and he has something similar in size for $299. This shipping would be expensive because 1/4" is heavy but you get the idea.

Seems WAY overpriced to me - it's only 64 lbs so it can't be heavy gauge.

I'm always partial to the $20 Weber Kettle CL score. Bigger bang for your buck.

Thanks for the Weber suggestions, but now that I look closer at some other units and pricing, perhaps something that give me more than one type of cooking option.

Perhaps something more of a smoker/grill would work better for the money?

Has anyone used a smoker/grill? I know they say it's a grill but will it get hot enough to actually grill what I need?

Thanks all for the awesome responses!

I use a Weber 22.5 OTG with homemade smokenator plate for low and slow cooks. You can't go wrong with a kettle.

Wait a minute! Putting a coal or wood burning cooking unit on a deck is about as smart as storing gasoline under your kitchen table. They call them PATIO units NOT deck units.

Go to Walmart buy a $99 Weber Siver 22.5", 2 $6 perforated pizza pans, a $10 pair of Tin Snips, a $10 Charcoal Chimney , a Bag of a Stubbs Charcoal and a Bag of Hickory Chunks and you are set. :biggrin1: if you just need to spend more $ send me the savings.
