SPECIAL - BBQ Brethren "Noobians vs. Veterans" Throwdown!!!

I'm beginning to consider the nuclear option. I've got my top scientists at work now developing a weapon of untold strength.

Warlord

I stand with the Noobian Warlord. I am also looking around yard and in the sheds to devise my own weapon of seismic proportions, so the SS Farkanaut will not even have a sliver to float on when we are done. ha ha ha

Now that's a plate

That one got through the deflector shields... Very nice. :becky:

That is a great plate, there is not defense for that one.

Official Noobian Entry Two...

I haven't seen one Noob throw in the towel yet! We are just getting warmed up...

As the early-bird dinner special on the SS Farkanaut comes to an end and the decaf coffee is lulling the Farkers asleep, a rogue Noobian battle cruiser is preparing for a sneak artillery strike in direct retaliation for recent attacks on the Noobian hordes.

A lone Noob prepares a dastardly counter attack...

To begin with he injects two 9# projectiles with Jack Daniels and lets them sit until thuroughly soaked. (24 hours)... The Butts, as they will now be referred to, were then rubbed while the launch toob is brought to 230 degrees with Oak lump, hickory and apple chunks...

The butts are then fired in the tube until they cleared the 160 degree mark and were ready for a bit more Jack Daniels.
_DSC4686.JPG

After wrapping them in a protective silver coating a shot of Jack Daniels was placed into the butt and it was put back into the firing tube at 250 degrees until the butt was 200 degrees.

Once out of the tube the butts were then pulled (they are only in the crock pot to keep them warm until the guests arrived).
_DSC4690.JPG_DSC4691.JPG

Using a homemade vinagre based slaw and ghost chili powder infused barbecue sauce, a handheld "sandwich" delivery device was created in attempts to destroy the Farkanauts...
_DSC4778.JPG_DSC4780.JPG

The quick attack is over as fast as it began, with the rogue vessel slipping into the night without the SS Farkanaut ever knowing where the fire came from... Many of them sleeping through the incident itself, waking only to yell "Damn kids! Turn down that god awful racket you call music! (mumbling to self, 'in my day') And get off my lawn!"
Due to it being my daughter's first birthday party I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked for the post. But I do have over 250 photos of her if you would like those as a consolation... She was a fan of the homemade cornbread but I know the rules, no photo no proof...

if i may, i'd like to point out that from
the appearances of the entries so far.....
Regardless of your personal affiliation and entry to team "vet" or "noob"
there's a whole lot of veteran cooks at work here....

Outstanding my fellow brethrens, outstanding!!!

agreed!!

Arg, That is great entry keep the tubes loaded as we are going to farkin' sink the SS Farkanaut.

WOW. some great entries. I fear that the end of this battle will result in total devastation, leaving no survivors. For BBQ's sake, I hope not!

I guess I'm a free agent since I haven't been picked up by anyone yet (or either I haven't reported for duty and am about to have a TON of pushups to do)

Next weekend I'll be adding my ammo to the battle ... and do I have fire power lined up or what ...

MS2SB -- love that fresh and tasty looking peach cobbler, jerk chicken is stunning, very nice bark on your ribs and I love the Blood Red Dawn sandwich, we used to make those daikon/carrot pickles, bet they gave the sammie a final high kick

Zydecopaws -- love the idea of smoked meatballs in spaghetti, I love smoke and tomato together, looks so delicious

Old Yote -- farkin' 'A' potato curls done on a grill, wow -- love your homemade sauce, plate looks fabulous

CD -- holy drooler, I must have this plate, I used to order something like this in the 90's and had no idea it was Texas food, just love it and that gorgeous gravy, yum! I am going to make this for us soon, cannot wait to try! Thanks!

Cuebacca -- I know what you mean about people wanting to eat and not understanding about photos though that is a considerable compliment, beautiful ribs

Toast -- bacon wrapped figs, I love that!! -- fabulous looking ribs and bark, fabulous potato cups, just a fabulous entry from side to side and top to bottom

Arg1129 -- what a sandwich! Ooey gooey deliciousness hit me real hard, good sneak attack!

Bob Brisket -- love that cook thread and love that breakfast, now I'm starving and have to go make lunch -- can I at least take the hash browns with me?

MS2Sb -- I love the idea of kettle/grill frying things, the "Chew" featured something breaded and grilled crispy in July but don't quite remember what it was, could have been chicken, if I find out what I'll pass on a link -- I like the idea of what you're figuring out with this, don't have a answer but I'd like to try figuring it out, too -- beautiful gravy -- you're becoming a problem in this war, sir

I just used the search feature on The Chew website and got nowhere. I think it was one of those things they were doing and showing that wasn't necessarily a full featured recipe. Too bad. I'll keep my eyes open because I'm interested in this, will report anything I learn.
