Here is 2.0. I made it 6 inches or so in height. I took some suggestions from you guys and ordered the fire brick from Northern tool. Next is a home made pizza but for today I chose a box frozen California Pizza. Feel free to make ANY suggestions. You guys have been helpful. Thanks everyone.

No, I did not cook under my covered patio!

*temp got to about 500 grate level. .. didn't ruin the probe*:)

Added legs to the insert that keep it in place

Great looking pizza cooker

What material did you use for the middle section there?

I've seen some ppl online that used aluminum flashing (low melting point), galvanized steel flashing (poisonous zinc smoke), and cut portions of steel drums.

It seems that finding a good piece of stainless steel is my biggest barrier in building one of these!

Also, have you made any homemade pies on here?

Did you have a "ceiling" on the top? It will help with cooking the top.
