My new $20 UDS charcoal basket & ash pan. 17 diameter x 12 deep
Used weber charcoal grate: $0
20" Plow disk from Rural King: $16
Rebar ring & 1/4" pencil rod $4
Scrap 3/8" rod $0

That looks great. Simple, economical and utilitarian. The very essence of UDS.

I'ts about 2 3/8 at the edge and more in the middle. The plow disk is cupped. Everything I had read said you needed 2". Was I wrong?
 
Well I don't think you'll have any trouble with that thing lasting a long time! You could probably drive a truck over it!
 
My charcoal basket. 16" Diameter 9" tall. I think it will last a few years.

i don't think that rebar is in a perfect circle :becky:
