The reason I asked is I have seen what you posted but not this. When you lift lid it locks/catches. To lower you have to raise lid, push lever down and lower lid.

Grumpy, you must have a time machine, your pictures are dated April 15, 2053! How'd you do dat??
NUTZ

Quick question for you eggers. I'm going to a dealer this weekend to look. What should I expect to pay retail for a large? Used isn't really an option here in the great white north.

my guess is over $800

That's kind of what I thought. Thanks.

call all the nearby dealers. offer them less and then see what they might throw in with it... ash tool, grid lifter, lump, plate setter, egg mates (shelves), egg nest... worth a shot.

I think retail for the large is $699. The nest is about $75. Plate setter about $45.

I will do that. No hurry for me, but I am serious about getting one. We have several dealers within 100 miles. A local appliance store is a new dealer and I have bought kitchen appliances from him for years to get local service.

That's the latch that I have on mine and it is kinda a pain.... It's on the 'replacement list'

Kevin, keep your eyes open on Craigslist... It does happen when you least expect it....

Find the nearest Eggfest and get deal on a demo.

What is the deal with this?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but does the bolt go through the bracket and fit below the ceramic ridge? It's possible the previous owner had some band slipping problems and designed this fix.

At one time there were some custom clips to stop band slipping on another ceramic cooker.

Good point... I hadn't thought of that...

I'm guessing it's the previous owner's home device to keep the dome from closing all the way. With the bolt flipped over the gasket, how much does it hold the dome up? Or homemade utensil holder...
