Smoking beef ribs today for the wife and kid, dog may even get a bone.
I thought I would share the process/porn

Well here we go, the pre rub and post rub ritual!

Ribs have been on for about an hour. I will post the next stage in a hour during the spritzer stage.

I cooked my first beef ribs about four months ago at the request of my 85 year old dad. They were great!!

My problem is that I can't find good meaty beef ribs. All of the ones I see in the grocery are "shiners" with very little meat. I've heard the Restaurant Depot has some good meaty ones. I'll give that a try...

Yours look great. Your pit looks like it has had some good experience also!!! Post some more pics when you can.

Thanks, and yes my pit is a well seasoned veteran :-D

Whenever I do beef ribs, they end up looking like beef lollipops. I get more shrinkage than George Castanza.

And like Dakaty, I cannot find decent beef ribs down here. They all have been scavanged for stew meat.

I got these off of a distributor, a bit better than store bought and cheaper too.

Great looking ribs. I "peeked" at some of your other photos, looks like you have had some pretty nice gettogethers.

I'd take a ride out to Ventura for a party like that with some good eats.

Nice looking Beef Ribs. Don't give the bones to your dog. If a piece of those rib bones breaks off and he tries to swallow it can kill him. I say this from personal experience. My pooch survived because we lived so close to the vet. Yours may not be so lucky.

We give our dogs all kinds of bones except chicken or turkey. Are the rib bones prone to splintering?

Thanks

Thanks! I did not give him a bone; too big for a Jack Russell (mixed). Giiven him BB bones in the past, but that is a thing of the past now that I got your post. It's amazing the insight you get on boards like these, even beyond the Q subject matter. This makes me even happier that I joined this board, one week in and I may have learned something to save one of my best friends life. If Pepper (My Jack) died from a bone I had given him it would be a bitter pill to swallow, thanks brother!

peace and smoke,
