The other day i pcked up two drums brand new, a 16gal and 30gal for a reasonable price.

I plan on making uds's out of them, my thought was for the 30gal drum to use 3/4" inlets and 1/2" inlets for the 16gal drum. Will that work, or do i need to go smaller for the 30gal or bigger for the 16gal?

I have a couple of threads saved but i couldn't find what size inlets he used, i plan on using Weber lids on both drums. Thanks:biggrin1:

I haven't built one, but, I would go 3/4" on both and add a ball valve to one of the vents. You can always close down the vents, but, it is hard to open them up once the fire is on.

Good point. Thanks!

As long as you have valves it shouldn't matter.
Personally I can run my uds on just one 3/4" I'm sure the same will hold true on a 30

I used 3, 3/4" nipples with 1 ball valve on my 16 gal and it's overkill but too much is better than not enough.
