Is it worth it to get the log lighter built into the pit or is it just easier to use a weed burner torch?

weed burners for the win.. you can clean your grates with it also... i wouldn't waste money on a propane lighter for a smoker... that is permanently mounted in the firebox.. weedburners can be had for 20 bucks!

You forgot to mention they sound pretty awesome too...:becky:

Also effective at trimming leg hair and eyebrows.

Yep. The looftlighter is cool, but not sure if it's worth 80 bucks...

The log lighter is nice if you need to keep your pit warm.

I like it because it brings you to hot coal ready faster than anything else and it's awesome for supercharging the heat for pizza.

Excellent points. Can you use it in the rain? That would be a big plus. If not, it's still a real nifty gadget.

Dude - Look where I live and tell me when it don't rain. I use it in the rain and the reason I got it was I can't use the chimney in the rain.

I put a propane lighter in my RF Offset and am very glad I did. I welded a pipe nipple to the side of the firebox and then screwed the lighter on to that. That way, if the lighter ever fails, I can easily replace it. I have a weed burner too, but for $20, the log lighter is much more convenient.
