I started comp BBQ with the Crapshoot team last year in November. Add a funeral I had to travel for and two weeks in Florida at Disney and that adds up to "I'm Beat" June and July off.....

This was our schedule

Jan 26-27 San Antonio Rodeo Cookoff
Feb 9-19 Humble Rodeo Cookoff
Feb 23-24 Houston Rodeo Cookoff (worked the line and cleanup)
March 9-10 VFW 4692 BBQ
March 30-31 Career Technology Festival Cookoff (Missed for Funeral)
April 13-14 American Cancer Society Relay For Life cookoff (On Vacation)
April 20-21 Paralyzed Veterans cookoff
May 4-5 Champions Kids Camp Cookoff
May 11-12 TGCBCA Invitational cookoff (Last Cook of the season) :-D

We placed in most of these too.

We're taking most of the summer off. The next cookoff after the Invitational will be in August, "Hotter Than Hell" in Houston.

I know the feeling...

Microsoft Outlook tells me I have 51 days of BBQ events (contests, caterings, festivals and other vendings) booked between now and November 1. Plus, I have a real job too!

WOW, I can't beleive you guys had that many contests over the winter. Most of us are just gearing up for our season and have only done 1 or 2 contests so far. I take it you don't compete in KCBS?

I travel on average 35-40 weeks a year producing shows and then on my off weekends I try to hit a contest we mange 5-6 every year. I feel for ya Zilla. OBTW I used to live in Selma hope things are well in the greater 1604 and IH35 area.

Zilla you can't be tired from cooking! It's that disney world trip that wore you out. Texana said you missed all the bad weather cooks. So that means you've only been there to cook for 3 or 4. You got to suck it up son!!!!

Yea yea... I was at all but two of those cookoffs and when I wasn't there I was driving to Florida and back or all over south Texas. It's really the drive to and from Houston that gets me. The cookoff itself is no problem. The drive to San Antonio after the cook puts me under.

I'm assuming they don't get the cold like we do.

Nope not much cold weather to speak of and no we don't cook KCBS.

OK Dusty and Jim, It's true I didn't participate in the "all night" part in the first three cooks but I was an active wannabe! I was willing to put in 7 hours drive time for those day trips so how about some points there eh?

And stop trying to change the subject Dustboy. Is your wife selling buttermilk pies or not?
