To begin with I would like to say thank you for the pleasure of being part of this fine group of people who enjoy the art and sport of BBQ.

I have been learning how to BBQ for a long time now and I would like to try my hand at a competition or two next summer, but in the mean time could someone give me some ideas on what I might need to make that first competition as smooth as possible.

I have at this time an aging cheap off-set smoker and a Traeger, I have ordered a Lang 36 which I will use for the competition.
