I've never competed before, and neither has my brother in law, but I'm considering this as our first comp. Would you all recommend it, or is there another event in the CT, MA, NH area that would be better for a first timer? Done a half dozen ICS chili cook-offs before but nothing on this scale. Between us we run two 18 WSM, one 14.5 WSM, a 22 Kettle, and a 48ish barrel grill. He's a pro cook so he knows the food handling, sanitation, safety aspect of food prep.

I agree with Bill. My wife and I always have the most fun at this competition. Most teams will be happy to help with anything you may need. Hope to see you there!
