can i use black cherry wood in my smoker ? ive been told it can be toxic .

Yes you can use it, no it is not toxic if you cook with it. And no, you don't need to remove the bark.

thanks i wasnt sure . i just cut down a 60' tree last year and split it last weekend . i hated the thought of useing it for firewood in the backyard fireplace . is there any wood that cant be used ? i know about pine and the like but is there any kind that would be harmful ?

I wouldn't use green cherry, as it does have hydrocyanic acid in the inner bark, but dried is fine and great smoking wood.

It's great. Dries quickly, but burns quick too. My Lang chewed through all my cherry pretty quick. Yes, it's awesome to cook with - GET ALL OF IT YOU CAN! :)

According to EPA regulations you cannot dispose of that toxic substance in PA. I can send you an address in Texas where the above regulations are not enforced.
