Hey boys just picked up a sort of rusted out oil drum bbq. It has some rust at the bottom of the barrel and on the grate. I would like to clean it up with a paint job and maybey add some wheels to it. Just wanted to know if you guys had any advice on how to get the rust off ie what kind of high temp paint I should use. I will try to post a pic of it later on. I see it as a project like fixing up an old car

Thanks:icon_shy

wire brush or anglegrinder with wire wheel. then hit it with the high heat grill paint that u can get at home depot. .

If you want to restore it, do a good job on removing the rust. When using a grinder wear safety glasses and a dust mask, nothing like the taste of iron. The prep will pay off. I used Rustoleum High Temp BBQ Paint, costs more but worth it. I do not think you want to use any type of primer paint.

Just about anywhere in Whittier.

HF has an angle grinder on sale for 14.99. With the brush kit and some extra's it comes to 25.00. Can't beat it.
