Many thanks to the Phil (Poobah) for allowing us to use his set up so that two of our team members could fly in and cook this one. Congrats to all that walked. It was a pretty wild weekend for us having two members cooking the east coast events and two cooking the SOTW event in Vegas!
 
Awesome Time...Nice Weather...Early Awards

First of all it was nice to meet a lot of you in person for the first time:

and others that I ran into for 10 seconds.

I gotta get a few things out there:
1. Phil aka Poobah aka Chef33 is one of the finest ambassadors for the bbq game (backyard and competition). I know a lot of you know that, but it is amazing how much time and effort he pours into this forum so that a lot of folks can be connected without ever meeting each other in person. I saw him knock out hundreds of PM's from 12am to 4am, just to wake up to the same number the next day when it filled back up. It is also amazing how so many people cook so different and can get similar results....Phil you are awesome...we had a great time!

2. Pig Headed had it rolling at awards...it was nice to meet you in person...obviously you can cook...we'll work on the fantasy bbq now.

3. Chris (Ique) showed up to the game late on Friday and still had top 10 stuff...pretty impressive...I resisted to ask for an autograph at awards...he's famous folks...I saw him on my TV...oh yeah he won that Jack Daniels thing once.

4. Briskets, Brothers & Judges: We had the best brisket out there on Saturday at 1:05pm...then my brother ran it through the pan drippings (after they had already been run/sauced)...they were salty...very salty. Enter the judges...I have to pay an awesome compliment to all of the judges that ate our brisket. We got all 9's for presentation and all 9's for tenderness, 567899 for taste. The judges that gave us a 5, 6 & 7 all left comment cards and they said almost verbatim "The best looking, tender, salty brisket i've ever had". Somehow it still went 10th...but a special thanks to the judges, because we loved it before the final salt bath (not in the script by the way) was applied. That's what brothers are for I guess. We had no idea what it tasted like after that final salt bath, but my brother came clean on it after we got the comment cards. Finished 6th overall...not bad, but we had good stuff...I'll stop:tape:.
