Chosen, and have started filming. Gary Lanton (is a brethren here) competed against 2 others last weekend in Atlanta. I know of Gary's recent competition successes, and I know a little about his competitors. Not knowing the outcome, I'll bet $$$ that Gary won this round IF they kept it to actual BBQ and not chicken-dumplings and pizza or rattlesnake fricassee.
Also, you'll see why he BBQ's after you see his wife. That is one UGLY woman!

Seems there was a lean towards, restaurant pitmasters or chefs here in Texas when they filmed. Buzzies BBQ out of Kerville was a Texas Monthly top 50 establishment, Dallas Lockhart is a newer establishment in Dallas. Earnest Cervantes of the Burnt Bean Company, does compete but is the Chef at one of the state universities.
From what I could see, they did a brisket and some type of "steak" or other piece of beef.

I think I read the new season begins airing in November.
That is what he production crew said in Atlanta last weekend when they were filming. One guy said this was the "2nd part of the 3rd season".
