I've had a lot of family drama going on this year. It's kept me very busy and distracted. I've only fired up the Bandera 4 or 5 times all year
. I needed a break. I invited some friends over for the 4th for ribs. I was really looking forward to making smoke and eating some BBQ. Then they cancelled at the last minute. Oh well, I went ahead and had a nice day smoking anyway. I got some pretty nice looking racks and trimmed them up (not the best job). The wife likes her ribs on the sweet side, so I mixed Simply Marvelous Sweet and Spicy and Sweet Seduction. I smoked them with hickory over K blue. After about 2 1/2 hours @ 280*, I pulled them out and put them in foil with more rub, some granulated honey, and brown sugar. Back in for almost an hour, then out of the foil for 30 mins more with the juice from the foil brushed on them. I put some ABT's in also. The ribs had nice color and a nice smoke ring. I plated them up with some homemade potato salad, corn, and the ABT's.
