Looks like I finally have a chance to compete this year. Any chance one of you guys might be attending?

Noah--

Where, when, what sanctioning body??????
I peeked at KCBS and did a Google.

TIM

It's the weekend after Dillard. The flyer says KCBS, and it is on August 11th and 12th off Main Street in Kennesaw. It looks to be a new event, but I did leave a message for the person in charge. I won't be able to cook at Dillard this year due to conflicts at work, home, and school. But it looks like I should have a little more time next year.

Noah,
Found the entry form at:
http://ga-kennesaw.civicplus.com/documents/Parks%20&%20Rec/Special%20Events/Pigs%20&%20Peaches%20BBQ%20Contest%202006%20Entry%20Form.pdf

This is a non-sanctioned event being run under KCBS rules.
Normally, that means a practice run for the organizers enroute to sanctioning next year.

This should be a GREAT event for you!
Reasonable price and the "big guns" will probably leave you alone so you can just relax and focus on your cooking!

GO FOR IT, HAVE A GREAT TIME, and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

TIM

Clarified the title.

I just went down and reserved a space. My wife and I will sell some Q after the competition before the concert to try to offset some of the costs. We are pretty excited!

Looking forward to this event. I have been signed up for a couple of months.

Bubba

I'm in booth 7, where are you, and have you done this before? My wife and I are trying to decide what to sell. Also, we will probably have double secret margaritas for friends in the know!

Noy sure what booth we are in. I forgot what one I requested and I have not done this before. I have done 6 other comps this year though. I don't want to burst a bubble, but don't expect too much from the vending. There will be plenty of others doing it as well. Too much work and not enough $. I will be there for competing only. I know a few other people coming as well.

Bubba

We were wondering the same thing, but for $50 extra dollars we decided to take a chance. If we don't vend, we will definately sit back and enjoy ourselves. On another note, are you competing in the GA championship in Dillard the week before? I look forward to meeting you,

Yes I will be in Dillard. Going to Dothan Al (FBA event) this weekend then Albertville Al next weekend. Looking at Greenwood SC next month along with Fort Rucker. I see you are in Mtta, I have a restaurant north of you in Jasper.

Bubba

My FIL's girlfriend lives in Jasper. What's the name of your place?

I've been there, now I can say I know someone famous! I will ask for you the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

LOL. I don't know about famous, just good food. Don't hesitate to ask for me.

Bubba

Guys,
This was a fun first outing, but there were some problems with the organizers. I did pull a third in pulled pork, and Bubba walked away with a first and third, but not sure which catagories. As luck would have it, it rained right at turn in time, and we turned in two really bad boxes. Just put the garnish and the meat in, and tried to keep the water out. Dead tired, but will post more later.

Here are a couple of pics. In one picture, I'm not winking at you, the damn sun was in my face! Anyway, enjoy!
