Assassin 28....picked it up yesterday!

I'm considering one of these as well. If you had the opportunity to order one of these again with the experience that you now have using it, what would you do differently? Thanks!

What would I do differently, do you mean what different smoker? Everything has been pretty good so far especially the temp retainment, the insulation is ridiculous on this thing. I wouldn't do a different smoker, get an assassin especially the 28...that extra $500 is a no brainier if you know ou need space down the road. Always get bigger when in doubt.

dobdabomb, can you snap a pic of the wood chunks smoking? I'm curious to see what they look like once the burning embers start falling on them.

Sorry man, ill try tomorrow. Nothing really spectacular, just what you would expected. Embers light chunk on fire within 5 minutes and they last for a decent bit.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant in terms of any upgrades/options on top of the ones you already made. I recall you put quite a bit of thought into your cooker before Jeff built it.

Not really, everything seems to have turned out well.

Another video for you and the one that asked for a shot of the embers falling on the wood.

More, first butcher paper wrap...three sheets turned out great. Lots of juice and it held together well.

Looking good! I'm glad that you are finally getting to cook with the Assassin 28. Let's see the finished product.

I didn't get to cook anything this weekend and I'm hankering for some ribs.

Now thats a good result. This infomercial almost has me sold. Great info on the assassin. Keep the updates coming.

Any surprises yet during the cooks..good bad or indifferent. What did you cook on before the assassin..any gravity expierence.

I did primo Xl and 2 large green eggs in competitions and for years prior. No gravity experience really, I have helped on them before but not my own. I do have experience on the pitmaker vault, safe and sniper as well as all the weber rm and kettles.

No issues so far, this cook today over yesterday's I used royal oak lump and it was great less of a draft draw flame into the cooking chamber I noticed. I think it did a better job on getting temp faster over the kingsford blue but I'd use both. Both cooks of ribs did the same, I think it cooked about 15 minutes faster on the assassin than in my ceramics. Cool to the touch pretty much everywhere except on the bottom third of the charcoal chamber and some around the doorways. Only use welder gloves around fire pit area. Half a bag of royal oak did 5 hours at 275. So 4-5lbs, its suppose to be that same time/fuel usage at 225-250, pretty awesome. Get one!
