I have three fall backs here.
One is to get some Blues Hog, mix it with about 50% apple juice, or other fruit juice, and 10% cider vinegar. Blues Hog is sweet and the added vinegar brings the sweetness back a little. Adds punch too.
Buy a store bought sauce, my favorite is Bone Suckin' sauce of Sweet Baby Ray's and adjust with cider vinegar and another liquid (e.g. whisky, white wine, juice) to desired thickness.
I make a fruit based sauce, essentially a spiced syrup, you could even use jam or jelly for this. I then cut with either apple cider or champagne vinegar to get some pop into the mix. This works great as a glaze. I usually steep some spices in the vinegar to get more flavor. I like black pepper, star anise, cloves, bay leaves, cumin seed and of course salt.
