I use this same recipe except I add paprika and cumin, and its almost as good as any commercial rub ive found for pork or beef.I like this one from Pyle's BBQ
2 cups Brown sugar
1/2 cup Kosher salt
1/2 cup black pepper
1/4 cup ground mustard
1/4 cup granulated garlic
1/4 cup chili powder
BTW, there is a Google search box near the bottom of the page that searches just this site. There are lots of threads on rib rubs.

Also sometimes I add a little bit of red pepper flakes if I want to add some heat
Well its certainly good enough, its my goto rub recipe.Guess what BB, it is a commercial rub. I use it at the restaurant on my ribs. I will have to try the cumin and paprika and see how it changes the flavor. The customers really like mine on the ribs. As everyone knows, sweet sells.
