Built rite

I too have been had by this character. Put a 50% deposit on a smoker last November with a promised delivery date for the end of the year. Nothing but lies, broken promises and excuses... I have all but written off my money and am sure there is no smoker coming my way. I too will be visiting Mr Boston with a law enforcement escort in the near future. I just wish someone could shut down his Facebook page and website so he can't continue with his scam. Many hardworking people being screwed out of money they can't afford to loose.

Hed have a harder time posting from prison. The problem seems to be the people he scammed don't want to prosecute/sue him thus allowing him to scam more people.

Same thing I was thinking. It's really ashamed that people are still getting scammed out of money. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do your part to protect the next guy.
 
Even though I eventually received my refund back in February after a long ordeal, I have continued to follow this thread. It's sad to see that so many people have fallen into the same trouble as me, most for an even more substantial amount of money.
Today, I did a Google search for Built Rite Cookers to see if this thread would show up and help educate people to the type of company Built Rite is. While looking through the results the Better Business Bureau site popped up and so I checked his rating there. Without arguing the need to buy into being 'accredited' or not, I was shocked to see his rating of 4.5 stars!! Out of 7 reviews left, only one was 1 star, the rest were mostly glowing reviews. Oddly though, 4 of the 6 five star reviews were all dated on 1/11/18 which is literally the day after Mr. Boston discovered this thread calling his credibility into question. An additional 5 star review was posted on 1/12/18; guessing that guy was busy when Donnie called him up. The timing is most definitely questionable. Also questionable was a reviewer that stated he ordered his smoker on 8/1/17 and already had it! Considering mine was order in April of 2017 and as of the 1/11/17 review, I still hadn't received it, it's obvious that either the review is falsified or Mr. Boston isn't building these on a first come, first serve basis as he claims. Considering nearly everything he claims is false, it's difficult to know for sure.

At any rate, I encourage everyone on this thread who has had dealings with Mr. Boston and Built-Rite Cookers to take 5 minutes and go on the BBB website and leave an honest account of their experience. I added my own and am just waiting for it to post.

I will also add that the BBB website also shows 5 'closed' complaints.

I don’t disagree. However the reviews on their website are misleading and obviously coordinated. And if someone looks for reviews of his company, the BBB website is one of the first to pop up.

It also appears that Mr. Boston has simply denied that I was ever a customer and therefore my review doesn’t appear to be posted. That’s an interesting loophole in the BBB’s rating system. Makes it easy to keep a high rating if the business can simply deny dealing with anyone leaving a negative review. Reminds of Mr. Boston’s quick deletion of any negative comments on the BBQ Facebook page that he is administrator of and uses as his main source of advertising. The FB Page always paints him as a saint and upstanding businessman.
 
Maybe if several people that were all scammed showed up at the Police station at the same time they could do a little more? Bring it to the attention of the local DA. There has to be a point where this adds up to a felony..I think people need to band together and go after this guy. When there are enough complainants standing in front of him en masse the DA will have to do something....I'm not a lawyer. All of the above might be BS
 
What happens if his FB page gets reported as fraudulent? Does he just make a new one and continue his scam?

I was not going to get into this again as I don't think it is right to just let things be posted on a webpage that are one sided. As this thread proves people get carried away with assumptions and opinions.... Well we all know what they say about assuming things.
So this is all I will say. I am not a thief or scamming anyone! Brian you were refunded months ago so you are not a customer, I submitted proof you were refunded the BBB decides what is made public not me. But you have been made whole so you should move on instead of instigating it further.
Next when Top it off is refunded how many of you will apologize for assuming that I stole or scammed him? There is one other that commented a while back saying he was in the same situation that had been refunded $4000, I notice he neglected to make that public as well. It's easier to place blame than be truthful I guess....
From what I have read Top it off has been almost completely honest since his visit and I hope he will continue when he receives his refund.
Kurt will have his smoker soon and has been made aware of that and I'm sure he will post that he received his as well.
Now it is not a crime to be behind as long as I'm getting orders out that is why I will not be in jail or prison, I'm doing everything possible to correct my mistake.

Lastly for those of you watching my Facebook page or Bbq group I'm sure you have noticed I have not been advertising for sometime although that piece of information was neglected as well. So for those that ASSUMED I'm still taking orders your sadly mistaken.
And even once I'm caught up I most likely will not be advertising as I have a deal with a couple of distributors that will be directly from me and carry my smokers in stock to sell. Less headache and stress for me.
So to all of you that think you know me or know my business you are wrong.

As a bystander in this thread I feel I can comment without bias. I would never consider buying anything from you and I hope nobody else does. There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything. You choose the wrong way.

I was reading about Mr. B scamming costumers 3 or 4 years ago on Facebook. I am glad this thread is here. About six months ago I mentioned this on a buy sell page on the book and was bombarded by msg by Mr. B.

Mr. B I am glad you showed back up in this thread, so everyone can see what a sad desperate business man you are.. It's time time to give it up. It's over Johnny Cakes

See this is exactly what I mean about these threads. Someone like you can come on here and post a pure out LIE and people will believe it.
Maybe you should do your research on me and my company before you make a false accusation. At least ge5 your dates right. I haven't been in business for 4 years!!

And I can respect that. I did choose to do things the wrong way, I'm trying to correct my ways now.
 
And be prepared for a back and forth with him through the BBB because he's going to lie and come up with multiple excuses. I documented all of my contentions and all he could do was lie more. Same with any State Attorney General, he's not afraid to lie.

I’m also a bystander, but I saw the Built Right website someone posted a link too. It was a few pages ago. That website does not instill any confidence in me to buy a smoker from them.

And, after reading most of this entire thread, it’s too bad Built Right hasn’t been shut down and the owner thrown in jail for fraud.

I hope everyone gets their money back.
 
1) Just because after months of waiting, delays, lies, etc, I finally received a refund instead of the smoker I ordered, doesn't mean that I wasn't a customer. It means I'm a dissatisfied customer. Once a company is contracted for good or services, you become a customer. Just because the outcome wasn't what anyone was hoping for, doesn't mean that I wasn't a customer. Yes, after months of waiting, I was made whole. How could I have been made whole if I was never a customer?
2) Leaving a fair and honest review after the fact isn't 'instigating'. You didn't seem to be upset about the sudden rash of positive reviews that coincidentally were timed exactly with your original post on this thread.

I cannot control how they do their business.
I do not pay the BBB and wouldn't. And maybe I'm missing all these raving reviews your talking about, but I don't see them publicly. And yes when it was brought to my attention that I even had a bbb rating i publicly asked customers if they would go leave their feedback.
Just kinda funny if you aren't instigating why you have waited months to get back on here or go try and leave a bad review.....

It's odd that you say you "cannot control how they do their business" because I just had a review denied because YOU told them I was not a customer. That seems like control to me.
