We used the new reverse flow smoker i built for comp this weekend . Results are in . We placed 3rd in Brisket , 2nd in Chicken , 2nd in Ribs and Reserve Grand Champion . The new smoker really made a difference .

We were at the Beach,Blues & BBQ in Monroe NC. This was he first time we entered this comp. There were 25 teams .

We have not changed anything at this comp other than reverse flow smoker. We have always used our WSM in other comps. With he WSM we would come up in at no higher than 6 th place. We changed smokers and still using same wood, sauce/rubs. Now the smoker flavor is better with the reverse flow . Now we started placing and got reserve grand champion. It has to be the smoker.

Found some matches.
That's awesome....congratulations! I have been trying to decide which type of smoker to build out of an unused 300 gallon propane tank in my yard, but after reading this, I'm definately building a reverse flow!
