Anyone have any experience with this event? Heading 5+ hours up to this event next Friday then to Hudson Valley Ribfest the following Friday. That's a LOT of SMOKE n' BULL!

MAINELY GRILLIN and CHILLIN' -- Raitt Homestead Farm Museum
http://www.mainelybbq.com/

Friday - people's choice CHILI comp
Sat - 'wild side' challenge -- people's choice pork
Sun - KCBS

Pork Butt and Chicken Legs will be there. Our 1st time there as well.

Well, there's the Roadside Bar and Grill right down the road in one direction and then you have The Shipyard Brewery the other direction. If you come up 95 to Exit 4 for 236 North, you'll drive right by The Regada Commons on the left where the Shipyard is. And then, if you went past where you turn for the contest, you'll have the Roadside at the corner of the next light. That's about it in the near vacinity. The area here is mostly residential with industry type small business mixed in.

There's a pretty big air show going on just south of this event the same weekend.

Plan on traffic problems Saturday around noon. Not sure how this will effect the interstate traffic - but I seem to recall stopped traffic on 95 north on Saturday.

Might be some great views of parts of the air show all weekend.

I doubt that you'll see any of the air show. Lot's of tall trees around the farm the comp is at and the air show is 20 miles or better away.

As far as traffic, I hope every one is there before Noon on Saturday as the contest would have already started.

I would plan on allowing some extra time on Friday though. Lot's of traffic heading north on 95 to get to the beach houses for the weekend and vacation!

Airshow is <5mi away.

Traffic will be the worst the area sees all year long.

By roughly noon, traffic on Interstate 95 north was backed up nearly to the Massachusetts border, according to New Hampshire State Police Troop A Sgt. James Downey.

I wouldn't plan on driving anywhere near the area on most of Saturday. Competitors planning on being there all weekend should be fine... anyone driving in Saturday to setup for Sunday should be aware.

We live due East of the events, and we learned a few shortcuts last year.
