I am building a vertical smoker from a 75 gallon propane tank, is there an ideal size for the inlet? i.e. square inches or etc?

Thanks!

Yea go for too much as it will never hurt. My last 2 UDS have had extra holes drilled on their maiden run as I thought I didn't put enough in the first place. Save yourself the headache and do it in the first place.

Intake port(s) size should equal or be slightly larger than exhaust port.

This one is quit a bit larger than yours

but a length of 4" exhaust tubing has proven to be plenty. I would think you will be OK with anything 2"-4". Go to you local muffler shop, can't beat the price of a foot or two of exhaust tubing. Match intake and exhaust size.

I think I might be off on my gallon size, this tank is 30" in dia and about 6 foot tall.
