I agree. I had a full charcoal pan rolling in my ECB yesterday, but when I pulled the ribs after 5 hours, I just shut all the vents down and a few hors later....still had 1/2 the charcoal left.

Seems even more a waste to light a full chimney, only to cook for only about 3-5 minutes for something like burgers, steaks, whatever and all that chacoal just keeps putting off heat for hours. I know what you mean. Try closing the vents down like Kevin said.....that'll save coals for the next cook.
