Too Good Of A price: Bought Me A Cambro

Do you normally need 8 hotel pans worth of space when you cook?

I will need the 4 I bought in a few weeks. Making a big family dinner in Maryland and transporting it to Detroit for Christmas eve. The cambro will get everything there safe & sound, and probably still warm too.

You probably already know this but...
You can pre heat your cambro with a little boiling water in one of those pans before your long trip.

Just got a shipping notice that the cambro and pans have shipped. Pretty good service and price. If I do buy another I think it'll be through them.

I was shocked... took a nap, and when I woke up, the cambro and pans were on the pourch.

Took 1 day to get.

Restaurant Depot wanted nearly $100 more, and didn't have the color I wanted.

I know Shiz-Nit was sweatin it a while back, needing one for a catering gig. With 1 day service, why pay more?

I'll do biz with this company again!

Ain't she purty! Red Wings Red.... pans next to it.

WHEW....

Although we can well afford it, I have agreed to curtail my spending on BBQ equipment.

So just now, I got creative with the wife on the phone.

Me: "hon, we're gonna need to pick out your Ipad for your Xmas present tonite. I made a little mistake."

Her: "What did you do?"

Me: "Remember when we talked about getting the Cambro? That's the cooler made for pro cooks.... holds the restaurant trays. I had it all set up in their cart, and saved the page to show you before I ordered it. Well, it must have auto-submitted, which Java Script forms can be set up to do. So when I went upstairs a while ago, the Cambro and the pans.... were on the porch."

Her: "Well, that's not your fault. What color did you get. Red? ...."

I knew I was safe when she asked about the color.

AND, I know that I shouldn't lie like that (I am probably going to he!!).

Write this one down guy's..... it works.

Congrats on both getting it and the "story" you came up for the wife. I have the same model and use it all the time even for small home cooks. I need another but am waiting until I see the right price before I jump.

I got mine when I was doing a fundraising cook for my kids' school, so I did the "it's for the kids, honey". We both cook a lot and have people over fairly often, so it really isn't that out of line for us to have, esp. when it is scored from the friendly local restaurant supply store for $170. :whoo: I fully intend to continue doing fundraising cooks anyway, so it's a good thing. :thumb:

That red one is looks amazing btw :clap2:

How 'bout some closeups of those posters - do I see T Rex and the Stooges up there?

May as well lay the axes out while yer at it - see you in WP :heh:

I had a Red MPC 4000 and sold it, it wasn't as fast as my BLUE one!

$700+ Cambro. Congratulations :thumb:

Wifey is an attorney and needs it... I think the Ipad is a good investment.

Funny story: we bought a TV a few years ago, and decided to finance it, as you did not have to pay for 12 months.

So the wife fills out her info, including her monthly income.

The saleman says: "No Mam, I need your monthly wage, not your yearly wage."

Wife: "That is my monthly wage"

Wish I had a camera for that one!

I'll do a shot of the room and post it in the Woodpile today or tomorrow.

Wanna see my banjo & violin too?

You said you took and "nap" and woke up and it was on the front porch the next day. That's not a nap ... that's a short coma

That would be a coma, I agree.

Miss the old days. When I was growing up (early 1960's), it was still safe enough to fall asleep on your front porch: many had couches out there.

Now a days, you'd wake up to a gun or knife in your back.
