What is WDRS you ask?

Well, its a Weber Drum Rotisserie Smoker!

I started out by taking my $11 Harbor Freight grinder and removed the top of a drum.

Then I used my $19 Harbor Freight recip saw to cut it to size.

And this is the result so far.

Still have some work to do but this is the result of last nights work

I am going to mount the spit and motor tonight and also put on some hangers for a rack, so I can use it as a smoker too.

Looks great! :thumb: Is the fit around the bowl and inside the lid as good as it looks in the picture? The lid would not fit on the drum I had.

It was too big with that lip on the top of the drum

so i took my trusty recip saw and cut that lip off.

The pic of the inside was taken before I cut the lip off

so what is the the measurement of the section you added ? looks good by the way

its 12"

I cut the lip off the top of the drum then cut the raised area at its widest point.

It fits perfectly on the kettle. Some drums may be different I dont know for sure

I did work on last night but not too much. When I get more done I will post more pics

thanks

Ive got the wsm stacker but I use it on my kettle all the time.

I mounted the spit and motor last night while my wife was giving out candy

Not real good pics but i will get more tomorrow, its almost time for the test run...

Gave it a try yesterday. It worked great.

I also added grate supports, so it can be a smoker as well..

this is going to be a very versatile pit. I was thinking about building a UDS at some point, but this is basically the same thing with the grate in it

Nice work.

If you don't mind me asking what is the make and model of the rotisserie? Thanks
