If you could have tools to use to make better Bar-B-Que what would they be? Links please. Thank you.

I don't know what tools would make my bbq any better but, you have the coolest user name ever!!!!!:biggrin::biggrin:

Concertina wire, while prepping the turn in boxes.

That would keep the moochers at a distance, while im cutting ribs, chicken or brisket for the .........presentation.

good fireplace tools, welding gloves....axe/maul, pruning saw....

is that what you meant?

Ive got a wireless thermo, its nice but its not necessary. Ive got 2 probes that I feed down the chimney: 1 is to verify the dial thermo on the door, the other goes in the smaller butt. Once the smaller butt strikes its temp, I put the probe in the bigger butt. Once I'm convinced the dial thermo on the door is accurate, I put the probe in the brisket.

I also carry a quick read thermo in my pocket to do a spot check on things like fatties, and to check the butts in different places while the door is open.

OOOO, BBQ dreams time.

Lets see.

I want a custom offset from Peoria

My BBQ partner will want either a FEC, Spicewine or Stumps cooker.

I'll need a nice 3/4 ton to pull the trailer, I'm lusting over Ford F250 King's Ranch edditions right now

I cook with a combo of Hickory, Oak and Cherry wood.
My partner is fond of the Kingsford with fruit wood for flavor.
No links for wood, but www.kingsford.com/

A good thermometer is a must have and we use Maverick ET 73s:
http://www.amazon.com/Maverick-ET-7...1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1193073273&sr=8-1

You can find them cheaper but that is the only link I have.

Since we are dreaming here lets step up to a BBQ Guru:
www.thebbqguru.com/

Good knives really are worth their weight in gold. I like Wusthof
http://www.amazon.com/Wüsthof-Class...5070886-2209501?ie=UTF8&qid=1193073529&sr=8-8

You'll need to keep things cold. For a classic look I love Coleman's 54quart red steel cooler:
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-54-Qu...1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1193073656&sr=1-6

For comps and serious jobs try this out:150qt marine cooler
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-150-Q...?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1193073656&sr=1-10

Vaccum sealers are a great tool. I've had good luck with the foodsaver brand:
http://www.amazon.com/Food-Saver-T0...1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1193074098&sr=1-2

Hope that helps, we can talk about more specifics if you want. Just let us know.

Best tool - Good judgement.

Good judgement comes from experience.

Experience comes from bad judgement.

My Dad is a member and I am looking for suggestions for Christmas gifts. He has a Spicewine, a Thermapen, a remote thermometer which he doesn't seem to use. He seems to be real interested in the Green Eggs. What kind of extras would go with one of these? Thank you all for suggestions.

If your Dad is interested in the Big Green Egg, then maybe some accessories from tjv, Lawn Ranger tools, BBQ Guru or Stoker?

Bear claws for pulling pork is tops on my Christmas list.

As far as tools, etc. for a BGE, I would go with something from The Lawn Ranger. My wife bought me a custom egg handle a while back and it still makes me smile every time I cook.

I use my BBQ Guru for overnight cooks, so I can sleep well. The Guru would be a good choice for the Spicewine and the potential egg. That way, you kill two birds with one tool.

If he does not have a Green Egg then I would not get anything for that, or at least wait until he gets one.

You mentioned he has a Spicewine, what size is it and does he have a charcoal basket for longer burn times, made for it yet? If not I can give you dimensions for it and if you have the tools and skills it can be made very easily, or have it made.

You didn't say if he competes or not, if he does then I would highly recommend a Coleman hot water heater, its also great for just camping if he is into that. I bought mine off of ebay for around 130.00, worth every penny. A good knife sharpener system would also make me happy.
Merry Christmas
Dave
