Welcome! You can do amazing things on a Weber Smokey Mountain. It is a good cooker to start out with, for sure.

Adam Perry Lang has some good books -- well worth having. Jaime Oliver picked a good partner.

Traditional American BBQ cuts of meat may have different names there, but there are other Brits among the brethren who can help you with the translations. The easiest meat to BBQ is the pork butt, which is the upper half of a pork shoulder. Whatever they call it there, it is very forgiving, and is the staple of Carolina BBQ.

Here in Texas, brisket is king. But, it is also hard to cook right. I live here, and I haven't gotten right, yet.
