I have spent countless hours reading and researching BBQ and Smokers on this site. Last year I built my first UDS based on the monster UDS thread. It was a wild success and since then I have ventured out and started work on a custom cabinet smoker. With the help of a good friend, the prototype is nearly ready to cook. Here are a few pictures...

Hope you used a better level and strait edge on the cabinet then the one you used on the intake on the uds.

Love the grease catcher. Looks extremely well thought out.

The intake was plum, it was the sloped garage floor it was sitting on that was not and I didn't catch it until it was drilled and on the level patio. They don't call them ugly for nothing.

The heat deflector and grease catch are all removable for clean out. That took some time to configure. Saturday will be the first cook after a cleaning and a heat cycle to add some smoke. Pictures to follow...

I was up at 04:00 to start the fire. The ribs went on at 04:45 for an 11:00 lunch. There have been some challenges tuning the new cabinet and getting the feel for how it behaves. I feel confident enough to share a cook with out the fear of too much harassment. 4 racks of ribs are the meal for today.
