just got a load of freshly cut down hickory. how do you guys store it? would you cut it in to chunks, or leave it fireplace length till you are ready for it? i was worried it might mold but i cant store it all inside. i left some pear wood outside this past summer, and it got kind of punky if you know what i mean.

thanks

If you do store it outside, make sure it is up off the ground enough for air to circulate underneath and cover the top of it to help shed rain.

Exactly what he said. Leave it stove length. Get some pallets to stack it on, and something (preferably metal/hard plastic, or at least a folded tarp over OSB) to cover the top. Angle the top cover to shed rain. Leave the sides open for ventilation.
