Hey All,

So im new to the whole BBQ and Grilling Scene.. Within the last few weeks Ive bought my self a Digital thermometer the maverick E775, i think that's what it was called, a Set of good sharp knives, a bunch of spices to make my own Rib rub, a bunch of supplies to make my own BBQ Sauce, and i inherited a free brink man smoke'n'grill... Im to the point where i know how to cook a great steak on a grill.. Ribs im in the process of perfecting on a smoker, grill i know how to do. The smoker i experimented this weekend with and the ribs came out GREAT im so sad i forgot to take pictures though :(.. I was trying to think what other meats can i cook on my little smoker that would take around 4-6hours? im going camping this wekeend and im bringing my smoker so i figured id experiment a little :). Any Recommendations?

PS. Go easy on me its one of my first Posts :p

First of all I would like to say great job on makeing your own rub and sauce. Whole chicken, duck, Cornish hen, porkloin, pork tenderloin.

How about a chuck roast, meat loaf or maybe some fish like salmon.

ABTs. Or try smoking some baked beans, you will never put them on a stove again.

Corned beef, as long as you plan ahead to soak it for a day or two before cooking. Makes great hash too.

A brisket flat should work as well in that time frame. I did my first last weekend and I think it went about 4 to 4-1/2 hours and turned out great.

Frog,

For being new to the BBQ world you have made some great conquests by the looks of your photographs. Congratulations.

It is important to follow your own likes and tastes in the world of BBQ. Almost anything can be "Q"ed so I would suggest that you experiment with the foods you like and broaden the horizons of your tastes.

Great looking photos which display a passion for a job well done.

That is some good looking Q. Glad to see you making your own rubs too. If you want to try something fun and great and pretty easy for a beginner, smoke a fatty. a 1 LBS roll of sausage, you can dress it up by stuffing it with taters and jalapenos and cheese and wrapping it with bacon. examples on this page are great.

@iammadman, Thanks for the confidence booster! :) Ive only been Qing for about 3 weeks now maybe a month? that's when i started trying and experimenting atleast.. I do have to thank my little cousin though the lil F'er was like "i think it will taste better with your own rub instead of premade.. then paused and said u know if u make your own sauce it will taste that much better!!!" LOL thats what got me into making my own stuff... I must say knowing everything is made from scratch all made by my self makes it taste that much better!

Ill be sure to take more pics of my new experiments ill be playing with, im thinking this weekend of doing a Brisket for the first time. that or more ribs seeing how i still have enough supplies to make more bbq sauce and rub... i did buy a Vertical holder for my racks so i should be able to smoke all my racks at once instead of waiting for so many racks to be done before i can start the rest (was my problem last weekend not enough space and didnt have the holder at the time)

Those look good so far!

Chicken is cheap and cooks quick... Look for a brine to use on here somewhere
Balognia is good too
One of my favs is bacon

People have pretty much listed what's going to be doable in the time allowed. Great looking grub!

You're fired! On account of making the rest of us noobies look bad.

Amazing pics and eats man. Well done!

@norcalque, Thanks! :)

So I went to costco and they only had really big briskets and pork butts (18-20lb+ ranges) i figured i dont want to worry about tendering the smoker that often during camping.. So im going back to my Orig Roots and do ribs! Ill tackle the butt or brisket when i have a weekend at home and have time to mess around lol.. So this time around experimenting with my smoker ill take pics and post them :).

So my Prep tonight... Drill holes on bottom of Coal pan, Drill holes on top of smoker (bought magnets today at harbor freight), then make my rubs and bbq sauce! I also bought a torch to start my coal :p it should be fun now haha.
