"As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

Testing out my new turkey cannon today on the Big Green Egg. Brined a big roaster chicken for 5 hours using one of the Smokin Okie brines: salt, 1/2 gallon water, sugar (in the raw), brown sugar, molasses, 1/2 gallon apple juice, pepper corns, garlic, and apple cider vinegar. Using some Bud American Ale in the cannon.

This bird will be sacrificed for chicken and noodles tonight for dinner. Made two gallons of homemade chicken stock last night. I don't have time to make homemade egg noodles, but those are always the best. Pictures of the chicken and noodles later tonight.

Nice WKRP in Cinicinnati reference!!!

I have the same cannon, watch the way the tube latche on the bars. If the turkey is to big it will pop of when it gets hot. I gues from the metal expanding a little. Make sure its tight.

Mmmmmm... good chicken. The kids just had dinner standing by the Egg eating as I cut pieces off. Together they ate an entire breast... one piece at a time as fast as they could.

That was some of the best chicken boob I've had. I've not been big on brining chickens. Always done it for turkeys.

Chicken and noodles is on now.

Comparing the before and after pics of the bird, it sure plumped up a good deal.

That bird just looks like it is juicy. Bet it will certainly make some fine chicken and noodles.

Yeah, that ale is, well, bud...

I've seen the turkey thing, though... pretty cool, esp if you fill it with gun powder!

I tried to order on a week ago. They said that it was out of stock for now but that they would let me know when it is available.

Makes them purty for sure.
