I'm going to just upload them all, because I'm tired of getting my teeth kicked in in comps (it's not all from appearance, tbh), and I just want good, tough feedback on our items. These are from the Blue Springs Blaze Off this past weekend, and I thought we turned in some great product, but our scores were about what they always are.

The ribs, we know that the top rib looks...rough. I still don't know how we didn't see this when we turned them in, but, we didn't. Also, we're still trying to get a feel for how to present our sausage, so any advice here is greatly appreciated. Also, I was shocked to get 4 8s on appearance for our desert, but I think that the heat screwed up our layers so they weren't as pretty as they could have been.

Anyways, give me your worst!

Quick look yeilds the following from me:

Brisket - 8, looks dry and just doesn't have that "pop" or "wow" factor to make it excellent, but still looks very appetizing.

Chicken - 8, too dissimilar in size and shape and sauce is uneven, but I'm wanting to try one.

Pork - 7, MM appears too heavily sauced and the pulled just looks like it was dumped in the box. Take a bit of time to organize the pulled better and it should improve.

Sausage - 7-8, looks okay, but dry

Ribs - 8 (almost a 9), looks pretty good, but is lacking something.

Dessert - 9, looks dad-gum good to me!
 
Brisket - 8 Spritz with warm water or dip in strained au jus to get a moist look.

Chicken - 7 Looks a little too dark. Try dunking thighs in sauce to get a more even coating.

Pork - 7 The pulled looks dry. A spritz with apple juice before it goes into the box won't hurt at all. Try placing some nice chunks on top of the pulled.

Sausage - 7 What Tom said. Try sausage balls vs the sliced. It will help keep the meat warm and more moist.

Ribs - 8 Leave that top rib out and clean up the bone ends a little. Nice color.

Dessert - 9 Looks good to me.

I'd be right in this area, maybe 1 point higher on the chicken, even out the sauce. For the brisket it may just be me, but are the 4th and 7th slices turned around? To me it doesn't look like they match with the others. And that top rib probably killed ya.
 
Brisket = 8, looks a little dry from the photo

Chicken = 7, sauce looks gloppy and uneven to me, also the color is too dark to look appetizing to me. Size is also uneven. Size doesn't all have to be the same, but arrange the pieces so the box looks symmetrical and pleasing to the eye, i.e. largest to smallest.

Pork = 7 maybe 8, pulled pork looks dry, MM slices sauce looks gloppy and messy.

Sausage = 9, Looks like there are some discolorations on the slices, but not enough for me to bring the score down.

Ribs = 8, Color is a little dark, but not by much, it is a little uneven on some of the ribs. Sauce also looks a little uneven. Cuts are nice a straight, but different sized ribs, both width & length, just make the box look a little sloppy.

Dessert = 9, Looks great to me, can't find anything to even nit pick about.
