Is lookin for wood to cook with.
I'm near Pittsburg myself and just kinda wondering about the shipping aspects? Does lsg set up the whole process for you? Did you have the option of getting it at the freight facility or whatever? Just curious how it all goes down. If I buy an offset it will be a lsg I'm just not sure what route to go quite yet. Thanks ben

They sure do. I spoke with them the other week and they ask if it is going to a business or a residence. They even break down the shipping quote: shipping from A to B, residential delivery, lift gate service. I'm in Oregon and the quote was right around $560 to my home with liftgate for the 20x42 and maybe just a little more for the 24x36.

Here's a question about the shipping. I read the shipping policy on LSG's website, and it mentions that it will be my responsibility to get it onto my property after delivery. Does that mean the shipper will only deliver to the edge of my driveway, for example? Or will they at least roll the crate all the way to my garage? I'm hoping to get one later this year, and I have to factor in the fact that my driveway (and road) has a bit of an incline, and I'd have to get it up to the edge of the garage (don't need it in the garage, just at the edge works) to uncrate it.

When I had my LSG 20x42 delivered they put it in the driveway for me. Once I unpacked it I rolled it into my back patio and was seasoning it the next night. LSG will take care of all the freight you will have options when you buy if you want to pick up at the dock or to your house with a lift gate service. I think mine was around 500 to California. The real pisser is my grill got lost by the shipper somehow how you loose a huge crate with all the gps and deliver tracking I dunno. The shipper was not much help so I called LSG and they were all over it trying to find it. After a week they were going to build me a new grill but the shipper found it. LSG has great customer service I am glad I went with them and love my grill.

Try it with water and without to see which you prefer.
I never used water with my horiz offset, but I have a vertical stickburner that has a huge water pan and I use it all the time. In it, I find the water smooths out the temp swings and seems to keep the meat more moist with steam. But of course the meat is sitting directly above the fire, so without the water I think it would be too hot and the meat would be too dry. The beauty of an offset is you’re not supposed to be cookin with heat from the fire, just the smoke (which should include plenty of steam from the wood).
If you dont want to dirty up the smoker with water, just get as large a pan as possible, even foil pans will work, and put it as close as possible to where the fire box attaches to the smoke chamber. Refill periodically when you add more wood.
If I had to predict, I doubt you’ll notice a difference b/w water/no water on that LSG.

Got my 20×42 in today. Talk about packed good. My neighbor let me use his driveway so the truck backed up pretty close to my cement slab.
Tomorrow I will season and Sunday will be my first cook. Only Bonner was I found a scratch on the lid. For some reason there was a 2x4 on the lid during shipping. Not even tied down or anything. I'm sure I'll put some scratches on it myself.]
