Congrats to Wood Master and T-Mac on their 1st GC...C-ya the the Royal in a Month!

Congrats to T-Mac and all who got calls. Awesome contest venue.

This was a great contest! Very well organized from start to finish! We can't wait to go next year!! Congrats to all who heard their names and everyone that came out and had fun on the island!

Buzz, thanks for leaving off that horribly low score that I received for my brisket. I'm still not sure what went wrong there. The nice woman helping us get on the ferry mentioned that some other teams talked with the reps about the brisket scoring. Does anyone know more about that?

This was a great contest and I will definitely be back there again next year. They did a great job as a first year contest and the support from the locals was amazing. Congratulations to everyone who got a call.

As a judge, this was an awesome venue, well run, with great crowds. Can't wait for next year. Congrats to all who walked.

As for brisket, there was some wonderful brisket that crossed my table. Some not so good stuff too. Par for a contest I guess.

.

Heard that too--know that Mike K thought his score was low too--forgot there were lots of first time judges there so my ribs suffered in tenderness scores--wait till next year<lol>

As a first time judge, I did my homework and knew what to grade on. There was only a few others there and they worked to divide us among tables. We shouldn't have affected things too much. Correct?

was told(fwiw) that there were about 3new judges per table--think newer judges want ribs more tender then judges that have been around for awhile--at least that is what I've observed when cooking other first time contests---not complaing 'cause my spares were a little more toothsome then I would like anyways--middle of pack is where they belonged--maybe should have used the ribs that were all gnarly but more tender

That's interesting. We were supposed to raise our hands if we were new. Not many went up. From a ribs perspective, there were 4 of the 6 on our table that had very little meat on them. Tender, but from a very skinny pig.

There is no way your ribs were worse then mine this weekend brother.

I went through a case of ribs to find a couple good racks--awful skinny--damn drought--and thanks for judging!!

That would have helped my score ! Tuffer then Grannies donkey. I apologized when I turned them in :tsk::tsk::tsk:

I just timed out--fire was down when I got up so maybe 45min late in the process and didn't catch up---actually had some that were more tender but were so darn uglee couldn'r turn them in with a clear conscious<lol>

well I guess it will be practice day friday after I get set up.

Congrats T-Mac!

Nice job Brian!

Great venu, Dick and crew did an awesome job organizing the event! The people of the Island were incredible, nice to see local excitment like that for BBQ.

Bitters, yuk! Pizzza, YUM! Nelson Hall, longest running Tavern in Wisconsin, great place to soak up some local color.
