We ran into a big problem after the doors were bolted back on the smoker after the sandblasting & paint. The sandblasting must have warped the doors. It fit perfect before. Now they are 1/2" off from laying flush.

Here is a pic that shows one door fixed and the other door warped. You can see how far off it was.


We had to break out our "door straightener invention". We tightened all 4 bolts to compress the lid 2 1/4". After you loosen the bolts it springs back. It bent it enough to get rid of the 1/2" gap at the bottom. It's not perfect, like we wanted. We'll take it. If we had it to do over we would sandblast only the tank. Not the doors.




Applied the high temp sealer around the door. Vaseline on the tank to keep it from sticking to the tank.




The extra sealer can be trimmed off with a razor. The red sealer will turn black, the more we use the smoker.
