Yeah I got that impression from the long cook you got with your top grate on the butt you recently cooked. I figure the bottom plate will work in the same manner. With both I'm sure the benefit is really noticable.
Does the bottom plate also turn the awesome colors of the top plates once heated?
Do you have a picture of it in the actual kettle?
