Looking at the welds (they are pretty "chunky") I'm guessing it must be about 11 gage (1/8" steel), not really all that bad and the firebox does look in proportion to the cook chamber. I think if I was gonna clean the burning splits out of the firebox I would use a tool with a longer handle.
I noticed those welds too -- on the amateurish side --but I'm no welder. Presumbably a chunky weld will rust and weaken faster?
I like the size. 98% of my cooking is for 4 people. I'm looking for something small, he's asking $450 for these.
