I have no idea what was in my old drum before I got it. I just made sure to clean the hell out of it, including removing every last bit of that nasty red liner. I've cooked a ton of Q in it and I'm still alive as well as those who've eaten my offerings.
EDIT- I HIGHLY recommend finding yourself an unlined open head barrel with a lid. Getting that liner out is a real BEEOTCH even with a burnout!
