Thanks for the thought man. This stuff is 3 years old and has been in my garage for 2 years. The garage is on the moist side so I attribute the mould or whatever it is to that. When I said it was heavy I meant it was not a conifer....which I think? would be lighter. I used the wood today in the fireplace to create some coals for the offset smoker - I actually used hickory/cherry/jack daniels oak for the smoking wood. The cook is still underway - I am gonna make a detailed post of it with pictures. Heck here is one right now:
Internal temp on the butt is now about 158f.....the beans are done and tasting beauty.
