AS kamado smoker is indeed made from pottery clay, you may need only to buy the clay, and add lining inside your pit by your hands. then wait a few days for natural drying, fireup by wood/charcoal and turn the clay to pottery. As long as you have a fan, the fire will be strong enough for the purpose. Before doing this, you may need to add heavy duty wheels first on your pit. Thickness may by 1/2", 1"and even 2 ". It is really up to you.
