I received a medium BGE as a gift about 8 years ago. It's still going strong. In late 2010 I wanted a larger ceramic. I teetered back and forth between the BGE XL and Primo XL. In the end the dividable firebox of the Primo XL won out.
I use the Primo for smoking or large quantity grilling and the BGE Med for grilling.
There's something to be said for running 19 hours at 225 on 1/2 a firebox of lump
