But getting the stuff shipped to the Philippines is a challenge. Chips work better for that and do not grab custom's attention the same way larger pieces of wood do.
Importing larger amounts of wood requires a phylosanitary permit at $107 a pop. I'm trying to stay away from that requirement unless I bring a serious amount across the Pacific Ocean that would make it worth spending the extra money on it.
Ten pounds or so of chips or shreds, while not ideal, are doable and won't get the local official's panties in a bundle. Or so I hope.
