My old man dropped by and showed me this stuff called Ipe. He bought 35K worth to do a deck for a client. He brought me a couple cut-offs and at first glance I thought it was weathered cocobolo, but apparently its the primo stuff for decks and outdoor furniture. It is unreal solid and it has a fire rating equivalent to steel and concrete!!
I'm in the mood to build an outdoor prep table, so I'm gonna give this stuff a whirl. Just thought I'd mention it.
That's good stuff. When we were in Venezuela we saw a lot of it used in the marine industry for boat finishing. I would love to get my hands on some of that.
