2nd Annual Arizona Barbecue Festival, Scottsdale, AZ - 3/26/2011
After a wildly successful inaugural event in April 2010, dates for the 2nd Arizona Barbecue Festival have been announced. On March 26th, 2011, the same Scottsdale Waterfront location will set Old Town aflame, as 60+ BBQ teams ranging from World Champions to eager first-timers, compete for $20,000 in prize money in this KCBS-sanctioned event. The action was so intense last year, it warranted a visit from Arizona Senator John McCain, who worked the crowd of 10,000-plus after event organizers orchestrated a soldier/family reunion live on stage.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., during which guests will enjoy $2 samples of the competitive barbecue while listening to live music, trying to beat the mechanical bull, watching cooking demos by celebrity chefs, play Texas Hold-Em Poker, sample great whiskeys and bourbons in a Whiskey Row tent, try whiskey-based cocktails from local bartenders, and let the kids loose in the Kidís Zone.

This is a great event. Last year they had almost 11K people attend. Wonderful location in Scottsdale, and the perfect time of year for great Arizona weather.
