My first UDS...2 of them!
Yes that's right. I scored 2 55 gal barrels off of craigslist.
Problem is, I do not know how to weld. I also have never even attempted this before. What kind of gameplan should I go for here? Thanks in advance guys I appreciate it. I'm going to burn these badboys out. |

Just thought I would give you guys an update if you're interested.
The build went AMAZING. Here are some pics. I'm going to post a new thread in a few days describing how it all came together. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! |
Good looking build.

Nice UDS, but there is a dirty bird on the side of it. Titans fan mod

I'm curious how some of these more "intricate" designs are doing as far as putting out BBQ. What are teh burn times on 10lbs of charcoal? How are the temp swings? Here was my blog entry:
I took a 55 gallon and drilled 3 holes 2" up from the bottom, and threaded 3 1/2" nipples in them. On one I screwed a 1/2" ball valve on it. I then drilled 3 1/4" holes 7" from the top of the drum and secured 2" bolts in them. I laid a cooking grate in there. Oh and I also bent a couple pieces of expanded metal into a circle and attached a 13" Cooking grate 2" inside of it. Then I cooked. |
Great job on the UDS man, and as I see you are a Ray Lewis Fan also.. Go Ravens

Very nice UDS...Love the top grate! :thumb:
